Hot on the heels of two breakout singles and a string of career milestones—including ABC Country high rotation, a #5 spot on the AMRAP charts, CMT airplay, Apple Music editorial playlisting, and spins across Double J and Triple J—Gippsland duo Ally Row return with their most defiant track yet.

Adding to the excitement, Ally Row will release their debut album on September 19. Marking a huge milestone in their career, the record promises to showcase the duo’s versatility and fearless approach to blending genres, further cementing their reputation as one of Australia’s most dynamic rising acts.

Their new single, “Something More,” is a punchy pop/rock anthem that channels frustration, burnout and existential angst into a thunderous rallying cry. Known for their introspective alt-country storytelling, Ally Row take a sharp turn into punk and pop territory, weaving distorted electric banjo, driving drums and smoky vocals into a fierce statement for anyone who’s ever felt invisible, unsupported, or simply sick of playing nice.

Drawing inspiration from acts like The White Stripes and Florence & The Machine, “Something More” blends grit and grandeur—capturing the moment when simmering doubt finally erupts into unapologetic power. Produced by Spud Thompson at Elusive Creative Studios, mastered by Nick Franklin, and featuring Alex Keser on drums, the single is a bold evolution in Ally Row’s sonic journey.

Ally Row are no strangers to pushing boundaries. Winners of Triple J Unearthed’s NYE on the Hill competition in 2023, the Gunaikurnai/Gippsland-based duo have built a reputation for genre-blending energy and heartfelt lyricism. With instruments ranging from banjo and guitar to harmonica and stomp box, their live shows deliver a full-band experience that belies their size.

Their 2024 single Bare Feet was a semi-finalist in both the Unsigned Only and International Songwriting Competition (ISC), further cementing their songwriting credentials.

Following on from their acclaimed single Middle of the Road—which won high rotation on ABC Country and support from CMT, Beccy Cole, Henry Wagons and more—Something More showcases Ally Row’s fearless creativity and uncompromising spirit.

This isn’t just a single. It’s a call to arms.
