Morgan Evans Back in the Headlines After Chase Stokes’ Brutal Comment

Australian country star Morgan Evans has found himself back in the spotlight this week after a surprise social-media clash involving actor Chase Stokes.

The unexpected drama unfolded after Evans appeared on the popular BobbyCast podcast, where he spoke candidly about the emotional fallout from his 2022 divorce from fellow country singer Kelsea Ballerini. During the interview, Evans discussed the intense online backlash he faced following the breakup and how he worked through what he described as “all the stages of grief” in the years since.

However, the conversation took an unexpected turn when Stokes — who had an on-and-off relationship with Ballerini after her split from Evans — reportedly left a now-deleted comment on Instagram criticising the Australian singer. According to multiple reports, the actor labelled Evans’ comments about the divorce “the most pathetic excuse of masculinity.”

The remark quickly circulated online before being removed, sparking debate among fans and media outlets. Podcast host Bobby Bones publicly addressed the situation, describing the comment as a personal attack and defending Evans for simply sharing his side of a difficult chapter in his life.

While Evans has largely avoided escalating the situation publicly, observers noted a subtle response on social media. Shortly after the controversy surfaced, the Newcastle-born singer posted a series of photos promoting his upcoming album Steel Town, leaning into rugged imagery and themes of resilience — something fans interpreted as a quiet clapback.

For Evans, the renewed attention arrives at a pivotal moment in his career. The singer — who first broke through internationally with hits like “Kiss Somebody” and the ARIA-winning album Things That We Drink To — is preparing to release his new record Steel Town later this month.

In recent interviews, Evans has emphasised that the upcoming album isn’t solely about heartbreak but about growth and moving forward. The project arrives as he enters a new chapter personally and professionally, including a relationship with fellow singer Laci Kaye Booth and upcoming touring plans.

Whether the social-media flare-up fades quickly or continues to stir discussion, one thing is certain: Evans’ story — and the music that came from it — continues to resonate with fans around the world.

For now, the focus appears to be returning to the music, with Steel Town set to land later this month.
