Progressive dance punks Dopplerhaus return with their sophomore EP, a vibrant collision of krautrock, post-punk and electronica that captures the urgency of their sound. Known for their hypnotic live shows, the Naarm-based four-piece have carved out a unique space in Australia’s underground scene — fusing heavy grooves, drones and synths into a powerful, dance-inducing force.

Onstage, Dopplerhaus thrive in the push and pull between rhythm and chaos. Heavy grooves lock in against drones and synths, while their arrangements twist unexpectedly to reveal flashes of 90s jungle, drum & bass and techno. It’s this restless energy that has made them a must-see act across Melbourne’s bars, pubs and bandrooms since their debut in 2022.
The new EP — featuring the single Jimmy Jimmy alongside Italian Leather, Tell Me, Tell Me and Catholic — finds the band at their most vibrant and upbeat. Yet beneath the surface, Dopplerhaus wield irony like a weapon, tackling themes of dogma, ideology and the fragile construction of digital identity. It’s a release that makes you want to dance while making you think.

Dopplerhaus are now set to take their new EP on the road with an interstate tour from October 2nd–5th, bringing their explosive live show to Canberra, Wollongong, Sydney and Newcastle. It’s the next chapter for a band that has already made a name for themselves through relentless gigging — more than 60 shows across Naarm since mid-2022 — and a reputation for turning every stage into a pulsating dance floor.
Along the way they’ve shared the bill with acts including Harry Howard, Fairtrade Narcotics, Spawn, Boggle and Beng, and appeared at festivals such as Sydney Road Festival and Old Bar Fever Weekend. Their commitment extends beyond the stage too, with charity performances supporting ASRC, Fitzroy Legal Services and Safe Steps Victoria — further cementing Dopplerhaus as one of Naarm’s most hard-working and community-minded bands.
Dopplerhaus are Lachlan Bray, Dougal Gaunt, Samuel Marks and Arlo Rostirolla — and with this new EP, they’re proving why they’re one of the most innovative and magnetic acts to emerge from Melbourne’s dance-punk underground.
